the untitled project Chapter 2

"I'm serious, Alice," Lily told her friend, as she dipped her toes into the water, wiggling them. "I detest him. If it wasn't for him, maybe Severus and I would still be friends!" Her face was serious, as Alice laughed at her, pulling her feet from the lake, shaking them dry and slipping them into her shoes.
"Fine," Alice started, standing up and grabbing her bag and robes. "You do not fancy James Potter. Much," she said as she took off running, bearly getting away from the water Lily tried to splash at her. "See you later," she yelled back to the red head, as she continued on her way to the castle.
With her company gone, Lily sighed and pulled a book out of her own bag. It wasn't one of a wizard's magic or that of dragons or merpeople or even giants. It was a play, a love story, written by the quill of a talented muggle many many years ago. The book she held in her hands was an old paperback, faded and worn with age and the many times she had read it. Opening it to the begining and leaning her back against a rock, she began to read it, giving each character a different voice in her head, and imagining what life must have been like those many years ago.
"Much Ado About Nothing? Never heard of it. What's it about?" The voice Lily heard came from her side, and sounded very familiar. It was a male voice, one she knew very well. It was one she did not want to have to deal with. "Didn't you hear me? Lily?" he spoke.
"What do you want, Mister Potter?" she replied, in a curt fashion, without pulling her nose from the pages of her book.
"You know, you can call me James," he told her, crouching low to the ground, and then sitting next to her.
"I know." She still would not look  at him. She focused on the words infront of her, reading Beatrice's words of Benedict, feeling the anger that Beatrice felt.
"Then why do you still insist on calling me 'Mister Potter'? He asked.
"Because, you are the most annoying being on the planet." She put down her book and stood up to face him. "You think you are the most brilliant thing around, but I have news for you, Mister Potter. You are not brilliant, or cool or charming. You are just a arrogant, bullying toe rag! And you need to learn to leave people who do not like you alone!" She was angry, her hair finally matching her mood. Lily prodded James in the chest as she spoke, poking harder as she went on.
"What are you talking about? I'm not arrogant, and I definatly am not a toe rag. And, anything you may have thought was 'bullying' was purly in jest," he tried to defend himself. But, Lily was so angry she was practically shaking, her glare slicing through him like the sword of gryffindor would.
"Jest! You call doing what you did to Severus Jest? You are just cruel and heartless!"
"I'm not the one who called you a mudblood! I would never do that to you!"
"Unless it would amuse your friend Sirius!" They were both yelling at each other. James had not meant for this to happen, and neither did Lily. She was just so upset about everything that had happened that year. She had stuck up for a friend, who later turned on her. She had to deal with James and the trouble that seemed to follow him. Plus, there were the studies they were sent to Hogwarts for. She had held in all her emotions, and now that the year was over, she was letting them out.
"That isn't true! I would never purposfully do anything to hurt you! I care about you to much!" When he said that, her heart fluttered a bit, but the rage was still there.
"You are the mots agrivating person in the whole world!" she yelled, taking a step back.
Then, as though all was moving in slow motion her foot slipped. He through out an arm to try and grab her, but would not catch her in time.
